  ABOUT US

THE Herald of India is an environment-friendly newspaper. It believes that journalism is a profession rooted in the Biblical worldview. Its roots go back to the Old Testament institution of Prophets who believed that all those who held public office publicly accountable. They did not exempt kings or priests or judges when they scrutinised their work. As a modern institution, it began with the Puritans in England in the 16th century.

In India, journalism began with the “Friend of India” founded by William Carey at Serampore in 1818 as a result of his quest for truth. It is this tradition that The Herald of India seeks to uphold and follow. It, therefore, seeks a uniquely independent voice in Indian journalism. It strives to provide objective coverage that goes beyond the headlines to explain how news affects us all. While it does not fight shy of calling itself a Christian newspaper, it does not publish news to propagate any sectarian or denominational doctrine. It provides news purely as a public service. It believes news is sacred while opinion is free.

The Herald of India has behind it a small team of journalists with decades of experience in the mainstream Indian media. It is edited and published by A.J. Philip
